Nisha Lodhavia with family

Meet Nisha

Nisha Lodhavia is an education and community leader running for the Delaware State Senate to represent Senate District 15: Cheswold, Felton, Kenton, Marydel, Hartly, Willow Grove, Petersburg, Sandtown, all of western Kent County and part of Viola.

As the daughter of educators, Nisha was raised with the values of hard work, responsibility, and community service. Nisha knows hard work should lead to opportunity - but she also knows that for too many families today, it’s just not enough anymore. That’s why Nisha believes we can’t waste time arguing about problems; we have to listen, collaborate, and find real solutions.

Nisha is running to fix what’s broken and make life more affordable, more stable, and better for Delaware families. She listens first, brings people together, and focuses on common-sense solutions. Nisha is a leader who understands these challenges and is ready to roll up her sleeves - not argue, grandstand, or play politics.

Nisha and her husband raised their two girls in Camden-Wyoming. Both daughters graduated from Dover High School.

Serving others has always been central to Nisha’s life - including in her work as a college professor at both Delaware Technical Community College (Terry Campus) and Wesley College. It was far more than a job for her; it was a passion. She found joy in teaching, mentoring, and changing lives.

Beyond that, Nisha has served in leadership roles with local nonprofits - supporting children after school, packing meals for homebound seniors, advocating for caregivers and loved ones with disabilities, and standing up for children in Family Court. Nisha has worked alongside educators, families, small businesses, and underserved communities, seeing firsthand how decisions can make life easier or harder for everyday people. Those experiences showed her what works and what doesn’t, and prepared her to tackle the challenges facing families, schools, and local businesses across our communities.

This is why Nisha decided to run.

Nisha believes it’s time to put politics aside and focus on real results. Families are feeling the pinch of higher prices and lack of affordable housing. Small businesses and employers can’t find the workers they need. And our public schools are doing their best with limited resources, stretched thinner every year.

Nisha knows there’s a better path forward, and she’s dedicated to leading in a way that unites our community and prioritizes what matters the most: strong schools that prepare kids for real jobs, affordable healthcare that everyone can reach, and an economy that supports all families and local businesses instead of slowing them down.

Kent County deserves leadership that shows up, speaks up, and gets to work. Nisha Lodhavia is ready to do just that.
